Tighter control on fuel imports
Vietnam will tighten controls on fuel imports after a state-run company said Glencore International AG, the world’s largest commodity trader, supplied gasoline tainted by a chemical that damaged autos and motorbikes. Glencore will take back gasoline contaminated by acetone and pay for any damages, Vu The Bang, chief administrator for Vietnam National Petroleum Corp., or Petrolimex, said. Acetone levels in petroleum products have never been specified in Vietnamese standards,” Pham Ngoc Tran, deputy director of the General Department of Standards and Quality Control in Hanoi, said.
