Tianjin to build chemical industrial zone
Northeast China’s Tianjin City plans to build an advanced chemical industrial zone that will integrate rich resources, leading technologies and environmental friendly facilities in the Binhai New Area in about 10 years. The chemical zone will cover a total area of 80 square kilometers. A total of 20 projects, with investments in excess of RMB100 billion (US$13.2 billion) will all have entered construction by the end of 2007. China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group), China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC), Shell, Dow Chemical Co., Rosneft, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., SK Corporation, Air Liquide and Mitsubishi Chemical are among those that have established businesses in the Binhai Chemical Area so far.
