Thailand targets 1 million cars running on E85

Wannarat Charnnukul, Thailand’s energy minister, said that the ministry is going ahead with plans to promote the use of alternative fuels to cope with future oil crises. These plans are consistent with the 15-year alternative energy development plan for 2001 to 2022, which include promoting the use gasohol and targeting E85 car production to more than one million units over the next 15 years. For gasohol, the ministry is targeting an increase in domestic consumption to as much as 9 million liters per day by 2022, versus the current 1.2 million liters per day. (August 17, 2009)
