Thailand may set minimum retail price
Thailand’s Energy Ministry might set minimum retail prices for fuels to avert a return to wasteful usage as global prices plummet. While this measure would also build up a fund to cushion against another oil crisis in the future, Thailand will go ahead with plans to switch to alternative fuels and diversify energy sources for power generation. Energy Minister Wannarat Charnnukul will soon meet with the Energy Policy and Planning Office to discuss the plan to establish a floor under which fuel will not be allowed to be sold, even though world prices are cheaper.
