Thailand boosts retail diesel price subsidy

Thailand’s Energy Minister Wannarat Charnnukul announced that the country’s Energy Policy Committee has increased its subsidy for retail diesel fuel by 50 satang (US$.02) a liter, in response to rising global oil prices. The move will keep the retail price of diesel fuel at 30 baht (99 U.S. cents) a liter. The new regulation also increases the subsidy for B2 diesel to 5.90 baht (US$.20) a liter. The increased subsidy will increase the daily cost of the subsidy program to 27.9 baht (93 U.S. cents). (April 7, 2011)
