Thai Oil affiliate halts 700-MW power plant

Thai Oil PCL’s affiliate power generating unit has unexpectedly shut down its 700-megawatt power plant due to lubricant leakage, Thai Oil’s Chief Executive Surong Bulakul said. The plant has been shut for the past two weeks due to the leakage and is expected to remain closed for two more weeks, based on an initial estimate, Bulakul told reporters. The unplanned shutdown won’t have much impact on Thai Oil’s revenue. The plant generated revenues of 500 million baht (US$15.31 million) in 2009, Bulakul added. (June 2, 2010)
