Thai motorcycle sales jump 7%
Motorcycle sales in Thailand jumped 7% in 2008 as high oil prices last year and advancements in fuel-injection technology led consumers to switch from 4-wheelers to 2-wheelers, A.P. Honda Co. Ltd. Sales Director Teerapat Chivapong said. Impressive motorcycle sales growth in the first two quarters of 2008 was caused by an increase in farmers’ disposable income, due to higher commodity prices and government subsidy via a grassroots stimulus program.
