Thai ministry: Logistics operators to get low-cost diesel fuel

Thailand’s Finance Ministry hopes to arrange low-cost diesel fuel supplies equaling 30 to 40 million liters per month for local logistics operators, said Deputy Finance Minister Man Pattanothai, the Bangkok Post reports. A formal plan for the program would be presented to Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij calling for special tax reductions of two baht (US$0.06) per liter for diesel fuel sold to logistics operators nationwide. Diesel fuel costs 28.59 baht (US$0.89) per liter, based on prices set by PTT Plc. Man said that under the program, PTT Plc would be the lead agency responsible for selling diesel fuel to businesses at subsidized prices. (August 2, 2010)
