Thai industry group projects production of 2 million vehicles in 2011
The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) said that Thailand will produce a record high of 2 million vehicles this year. The forecast is driven by a strong recovery in both domestic and external demand following supply disruptions caused by last year’s floods. The projected production output is 37% higher than the total production of 1.46 million vehicles in 2011. “We are very confident that production will reach 2 million this year. There’s a lot of orders left to be delivered from last year in both the domestic and export markets,” said Surapong Paisitpattanapong, a spokesman for the FTI’s automotive group. (January 24, 2012)
