Thai Energy Minister gives awards to 300 gas stations
Thai Energy Minister Wannarat Charnweerakul gave awards to more than 300 petrol stations in recognition of their high-quality products and services. The energy minister presided over the first annual award ceremony, which aims to boost customer confidence in the quality and safety of the country’s gas stations. More than 1,000 petrol stations participated in the competition. There were 124 stations given gold medals, 208 silver and 38 bronze. The evaluation criteria were based on oil quality control system, safety control system, fire prevention system, contaminated water drainage system and gas station management. If the award-winning petrol stations do not maintain their standards, their medals will be revoked, the minister said. (February 6, 2009)
