Teijin to supply carbon fiber composite material to Airbus
Japanese chemical and pharmaceutical company Teijin Ltd. will supply carbon fiber composite material for planes to Europe’s aircraft manufacturing giant Airbus, from Fiscal 2011, the Nikkei reported. Teijin is considering building a new plant in Europe and targeting sales of several tens of billions of yen in the aircraft-use carbon fiber composite business in a few years. Demand for carbon fiber composite is expected to grow as the material helps reduce aircraft weight and improve fuel-efficiency, according to the Nikkei. (June 27, 2010)
