TEC expands biofuels business in SE Asia

Toyo Engineering Corp’s (TEC) biofuels-related business in Southeast Asia is growing. The company’s Thai unit Toyo Thai Corp. was recently awarded a contract by PT Tri Agri Sumatera to build a pilot biodiesel plant in Lombok, Indonesia. The unit will have a capacity of 3,000 liters per day and is due to be completed in mid-2009. It will be fed with crude vegetable oil extracted from jatropha seeds. TEC’s Indonesian unit is also looking into participating in a project that aims to produce bioethanol from cassava-derived starch. (June 26, 2008)
