Tata may start exporting Nano by December
Mumbai-based auto maker Tata Motors is expected to start rolling out its Nano mini-car by December to Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and African markets. This information comes from local auto parts suppliers to the company. The move should help the automaker boost sales of the world’s cheapest car by increasing demand for its products and reducing the company’s dependence on the home market. “Tata Motors may begin exports of the Nano as early as December and will likely export 1,000 units initially,” said one supplier. These markets have similar requirements as India, so Tata would not have to make major changes to the existing Nano, unlike Europe. (March 17,2011)
