Takreer to carry out US$10 billion expansion

Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer) announced that the company has signed agreements to carry out three major expansion projects valued at more than US$10 billion by the end of 2013, Gulf News reported. Takreer was established in 1999 as a public joint-stock company to take over the responsibility of refining operations previously undertaken by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). The expansion projects are part of ADNOC’s plans to develop the downstream industry in the country by satisfying increasing demand for high quality petroleum products in the local, as well as the international market. After the expansion, Takreer will increase its crude throughput to 417,000 barrels per day (bpd) and nearly double its production of transportation fuels at the Ruwais and Abu Dhabi refineries.
