Taiwan plans renewable energy investment

Officials said that the Taiwanese government plans to invest in solar cells, light-emitting-diode lighting and other forms of renewable energy. It will, they said, invest in wind power, biofuels, hydrogen energy, light electric vehicles and technology that would help reduce power consumption in electronic products through its National Development Fund (NDF). The NDF was set up to invest in key strategic industries. The annual production value of the seven energy sectors in Taiwan is NT$160 billion (US$4.75 billion) and is estimated to reach NT$1.16 trillion (US$34.42 billion) in 2015, media reports said.
