Taiwan mandates biodiesel

A revision of Taiwan’s Energy Administration Law will make it mandatory to blend with 1% biodiesel from 2008. The biodiesel blend will be increased to 2% by 2010. Steve R. L. Chen, Taiwan’s economics minister, said that Taoyuan and Chiayi counties will be the first counties to implement the biodiesel program. All service stations in the two counties will begin supplying biodiesel blends from July this year. Currently, there are four main biodiesel suppliers in Taiwan. (April 11, 2007)
