Taiwan launches drive to cut carbon emissions

Drivers in Taiwan will be able to cut down carbon dioxide emissions by 7 million metric tons each year if they can adopt new driving behavior and become more conscious over oil consumption, according to the Cabinet-level Environmental Protection Administration (EPA). EPA Chief Shen Shih-hong made the remarks while awarding an environmental protection logo to Ho-Hsin Bus Traffic Co. Shen said the logo is to mark the completion of a training program for bus drivers at Ho-Hsin Bus Traffic Co. for correct driving habits, including avoiding idle running of engines, reducing the unnecessary load aboard the bus, regularly monitoring the air conditioners and regular maintenance of the vehicles.
