Sundrop Fuels to produce first “green gasoline” in the U.S.
The gasification-based drop-in advanced biofuels company, Sundrop Fuels, Inc., announced that it has finalized a licensing agreement which allows the company to use the methanol-to-gasoline (MTG) technology of ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company. MTG technology will be incorporated into the first “green gasoline” production facility in the U.S., and Sundrop Fuels plans to break ground late this year at the commercial plant’s site near Alexandria, Louisiana. The facility will have an annual capacity of up to 50 million gallons of renewable gasoline. The installation will be the first commercial production facility of biofuels to use the MTG technology, which was originally developed in the 1970s to convert sustainable forest waste into clean and affordable bio-based “green gasoline” through a multi-phase process.
