Stations in NSW start phase out of regular unleaded gasoline

There are now at least 179 sites across New South Wales, Australia, where ordinary unleaded is no longer available. BP said it has “converted” 130 service stations by replacing regular unleaded gasoline with E10. “If we are going to meet the mandate that is the best way we do it,” a BP spokesman said. Caltex has converted 37 service stations, while Mobil has phased out regular unleaded gasoline at 10 sites across Sydney and Shell has two Coles Express sites without regular unleaded gasoline, with another five sites to be converted by the end of 2009. Retailers are aiming for a target of four percent of all fuel being blended with ethanol by January 2010 and all non-premium gasoline to be a 10 percent ethanol blend by mid-2011. (September 30, 2009)
