Sri Lanka suspends payment to ENOC after complaints of vehicle damage
Sri Lanka has refused to pay for a 20,000 metric ton consignment of 90 octane gasoline from the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) after motorists complained the fuel was damaging their vehicles. Susil Premjayantha, Sri Lanka’s petroleum minister said, “I have ordered the officials to suspend the payment for the Emirates National Oil Company of Dubai for its 20,000 MT of petrol imported pending inquiry.” He indicated that he had ordered authorities to stop the distribution of the fuel already in the marketplace to stop immediately. A three-member committee has been appointed to investigate the petrol importation. (July 5, 2011)
