SPC may dispense CNG at one of its petrol stations

Singapore Petroleum Company (SPC), which has a network of close to 40 petrol stations in Singapore, may start dispensing compressed natural gas (CNG) at one of them in the next few months. SPC constantly explores opportunities to increase the returns of its retail sites, and a CNG facility is one of the options under consideration,” an SPC spokesman said. There are now about 350 vehicles in the island-state that can use CNG. The only place that dispenses CNG is Jurong Island. By early next year, cab operator Smart Taxis could also be operating a CNG station. It has secured a station site in Mandai Link. Another possible site has been identified in Serangoon North. This could be up as early as mid-2008. If SPC’s CNG plans go ahead, Singapore could have four CNG refueling locations by the end of 2008. (September 15, 2007)
