South Korea to give green car owners special perks

Fans of environmentally friendly cars in South Korea may have cause for celebration. Lawmakers submitted in March a bill to give green car owners a 50% discount in car-related taxes, fees needed for using public parking lots and tollgate fees. The bill came after the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) unveiled a plan to cut 3.1 million won (US$2,159.30) in taxes for those who purchase green cars such as hybrid vehicles, effective in July.
