South Korea names renewable energy leaders
South Korea’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy said eight companies have been chosen as leading enterprises in the implementation of eight strategic tasks for the renewable energy sector. The companies are LG Electronics, LG Micron, Hyosung, Hyundai Motor, Samsung SDI, Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction, Silicon Value and Solmics. For the next three years, the ministry will invest a total of 255.2 billion won (US$23 million), with 158.8 billion won from the government (US$14.32 million) and the remainder from the private sector.
