South Australia goes for green cars
South Australians are adopting greener attitudes when it comes to buying a new car, with 58% saying they would consider environmental factors, such as a car’s air pollution rating or fuel efficiency, before purchase. The Australian Associated Motor Insurers Limited (AAMI) survey of 2,503 Australians, conducted by Sweeney Research, comes as Holden released its new Commodore, which runs on fuel with 85% ethanol content. Caltex Australia said it will increase the number of E85 stations to more than 100 across the country. AAMI Spokesman Mike Sopinski said the research showed a green consciousness’ developing in South Australia. (October 21, 2010)
