Skanska to upgrade and expand Brazilian lube plant

Swedish construction and engineering company Skanska said it has been awarded a US$93 million contract to modernize and expand an existing lubricant plant, as well as build a new plant in the southeastern state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The contract was signed with BR Distribuidora, the retail and distribution arm of Brazil’s state-run oil company Petrobras. In a statement, Skansa said the project will almost double annual production to 430,000 cubic meters of lubricants and 11,200 tons of grease by 2013, positioning the facility in the top 10 worldwide. Construction work will start immediately and should be completed in 36 months, the Swedish firm said. (March 21,2011)
