SK selects ExxonMobil catalyst technology

SK Corporation, a market leader in Group III base oil production and the largest refiner by capacity in Korea, selected ExxonMobil’s MSDW catalyst technology for its Ulsan, South Korea, lube plant expansion. In order to expand capacity and improve yields at its two Ulsan catalytic lube plants, SK selected ExxonMobil’s lubes catalyst and process technologies to replace the existing technologies for the production of all grades of basestocks. SK expects the overall capacity of the plant to increase by more than 10% of Group II and III production. A successful start-up took place in May 2006. (August 1, 2006)
