Sinopec to build ethanol plant in Jianggangshan

Jianggangshan City recently formally signed an agreement with Sinopec Jiangsi Company to establish a fuel ethanol project, according to news released by Jianggangshan municipal government. The project will use sweet potatoes, corn, sugarcane and plant stalks as its basic raw materials to produce ethanol through the use of industrial biological technologies. The project will involve a total investment of more than CNY400 million (US$52.8 million.) Output is expected to reach 100,000 tons per year. (August 8, 2007)
