Sinopec starts expansion of Anhui refinery

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) has started construction work on an expansion project to boost the crude processing capacity of the Anqing refinery in Anhui province by 60% to 8 million metric tons a year (160,700 barrels per day), state-run Xinhua news agency reported. With an investment of 10 billion yuan (US$1.46), the expanded refinery will produce an additional 2.7 million tons of gasoline and diesel fuel a year, all meeting Euro III emission standards. The expanded refinery is expected to come online in September 2012. (January 19, 2010)
