Singapore’s wholesale trade recovers in Q2

Singapore’s domestic wholesale trade rose a seasonally adjusted 7.3% in the second quarter, from the first quarter, this year, according to official data. After removing price effects, domestic wholesale trade rose 8.4%, while foreign wholesale trade rose 2%. The increase in domestic wholesale trade was largely attributable to petroleum and petroleum products, general wholesale trade, and chemicals and chemical products. After adjusting for price changes, domestic wholesale trade volume showed a year-on-year increase of 3.2% in the second quarter. (August 22, 2009)
