Sikkim cuts sales tax on petrol

The Government of Sikkim has reduced sales tax on petrol and diesel fuel to provide relief to users, following the recent fuel hike affected by the Government of India. This cut has brought down the price of petrol by Rs2 (US$0.05) per liter and diesel fuel by Rs1.40 (US$0.03) per liter with immediate effect. Petrol will now cost Rs50.65 (US$1.18) per liter in the state, while diesel fuel will cost Rs35.80 (US$0.84) per liter. (June 10, 2008)
