Shell’s Selda Gunsel to keynote conference
Selda Gunsel, vice president for Downstream Global Commercial Technology of Shell Global Solutions Downstream, will be among the keynote speakers at F+L Week 2013 Conference & Exhibition to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 11-15, 2013.
Gunsel’s talk will focus on emerging technologies for energy efficiency.
According to Gunsel, enhanced energy efficiency is a significant driver for many segments of the world’s industry and business today. “This is being encouraged by a rapid increase in the demand for energy – perhaps a doubling in demand by 2050; a decrease in the accessibility of energy sources and a desire to curb CO2 emissions.”
Consequently, many manufacturers need to redesign their products with an increased emphasis on efficiency and businesses are increasingly sensitive to energy costs and emissions. Both aspects stimulate opportunities for fuels and lubricants companies, including: fuels with a reduced carbon intensity; fuels which preserve factory levels of hardware cleanliness; lubricants which reduce component friction; and lubricants which enable the adoption of new, innately efficient, hardware.
“This address will touch on each of these facets whilst highlighting my firm belief that dialogue and partnerships between legislators, manufacturers and component suppliers is essential if rapid and substantial progress towards an energy efficient future is to be achieved,” she said.
