Shell to build seventh lube blending plant in China
Shell Lubricants announced its plan to build a new, state-of-the-art lubricants blending plant in Tianjin, near Beijing, China. The plant will be ideally located to supply a range of lubricants products to Northern China, supplementing Shellโs six existing plants on the Chinese mainland. The plant will have a capacity of 300 million liters per year initially, with the potential to expand 500 million liters.
The blending plant will start operating in 2015 and will use base oil from Shell’s facilities around the world, Mark Gainsborough, Shell executive vice president of Global Commercial Business, said.
In China, Shell has lube blending plants in Beijing, Zhuhai, Xianyang, Zhapu and Wuxi.
