Shell, Petron win fuel contracts from Napocor
Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. was awarded the biggest contract of Php1.89 billion (US$43.53 million), while Petron Corp. was a close second, bagging Php1.62 billion (US$37.31 million) worth of supply contracts for fuel on power plants and barges being operated by or under contract with Philippine state-run National Power Corporation (Napocor). Being the successor-company, it was the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM) which undertook the auction for the fuel supply contracts. The power facilities to be supplied with fuel include some plants being operated by independent power producers under contract with NPC, as well as power barges. The fuel requirements auctioned comprise of industrial fuel oil and diesel fuel for various power plants. (February 5, 2011)
