Shell launches Ferrari scale models

Royal Dutch Shell P.L.C.’s Philippine subsidiary Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. launched in April seven 1:38 scale models of Gran Turismo Ferraris in celebration of over 60 years of shared car racing passion with the Italian carmaker. The collection introduced seven cars: the Ferrari FXX, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Ferrari F430 Challenge, Ferrari 250 GTO, Ferrari F40, Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale and the Ferrari 575 GTC. The models, Pilipinas Shell said, are equipped with the capability to produce realistic sound. The cars simulate revving up during pull back and the mimics the sound of a Ferrari as it moves from low to high gear during a race. The cars were part of a company promotion, with customers who buy a minimum of Php500(US$10.46) worth of fuel being able to avail of a model car for Php120 (US$2.51). (April 6, 2009)
