Shell aims to be No. 2 in Thailand
The Shell Co. of Thailand expects its retail oil sales to increase by 14% next year, making it number two with a 15% share of Thailand’s fuel market, according to Pissawan Achanapornkul, chairperson. Shell now ranks fourth, with a market share of 13%, after market leader PTT plc, Esso and Caltex, according to Thailand’s Department of Energy Business (DOEB). Shell would need to sell 2.62 billion liters in 2011, from 2.3 billion last year, to catapult it to number two position.
