Sasol in talks to build CTL project in Uzbekistan
Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Co. of Uzbekistan and South Africa’s Sasol are considering the construction of a plant to produce synthetic liquid fuel from coal (coal-to-liquid or CTL). A potential site has been identified at the base of of the Angren coal field in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan. Initially, the plant will have the capacity to produce 500,000 tons of diesel fuel a year. The project will be implemented within five years. Reserves of the Angren coal field is 2.5 billion tons.
