Sanand plant will boost Nano output
Tata Motors’ new plant for the Nano car project at Sanand, Gujarat, India will begin ramping up numbers from August 2010. The Nano is touted as the world’s cheapest car. The plant, which has an annualized capacity of 250,000 units, will start trial production in the last quarter of this fiscal year before kicking off production in February 2010. P.M. Telang, managing director, said that from November, Nano production at Pantnagar would be up to 4,000 units from the current level of 2,500. The company has delivered 7,500 Nanos so far since production at Pantnagar started this year. (October 17, 2009)
