Safety Kleen may build lube re-refinery in U.S. Gulf Coast
Safety Kleen Systems Inc., a North American parts cleaning and environmental solutions company, is evaluating the construction of a third lube re-refinery. The company will move forward with preliminary engineering for the re-refinery and is looking at sites in the Southeast and Gulf Coast United States. A third plant would increase the company’s re-refining capacity to 200 million gallons annually. Robert Craycraft, CEO and president, said, “Our two existing re-refineries, in Breslau, Ontario, and East Chicago, Indiana, have already processed more than 2.5 billion gallons of used oil into high-quality lubricants and byproducts. Acceptance of our re-refined products, particularly EcoPower, is well-established and growing among corporate fleets, consumers, and government agencies and we want to extend our leadership in this important market.” EcoPower is motor oil produced from re-refined used oil.
