Russia mulls 2012 deadline for Euro 4

Russia’s energy ministry said it may delay implementing Euro 4 emissions standard beyond the current January 1, 2012 deadline that would effectively see a ban on RON 92 gasoline. The ministry will review the policy throughout May “and come out with a final recommendation towards the end of May-early June,” Department for Oil and Gas Processing Deputy Director Pavel Karchevskiy said in a statement. The Euro 4 standard is to replace Euro 2 and 3 standards from 2012. The Euro 5 standard is supposed to kick in starting from 2015. (April 30, 2010)
