Rubis starts rebranding former Texaco stations in Bahamas
Rubis, a French company which specializes in the storage, distribution and sale of petroleum, liquefied petroleum gas, food and chemical products, plans to invest USD1.3 million in the rebranding of its Texaco service stations in the Bahamas.
In May 2011, Rubis acquired the assets that were owned and operated by Chevron under the Texaco brand in the Eastern Caribbean.
The acquisition “meant that Rubis became a formidable competitor in the regional downstream business in the Caribbean islands of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St. Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago. These territories joined with the already acquired assets in Bermuda, Guadeloupe, Martinique and French Guiana. Further acquisitions during 2012 included the Chevron assets in The Bahamas, Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands,” the company said.
Rubis completed its rebranding of Texaco gas stations in Grenada in November 2012.
Rubis’ regional sales and marketing manager, Byron Ferguson, said the rebranding of the former Texaco stations in the Bahamas comes with a number of new features that includes a “pay at the pump” service, laser car-wash, UltraTec unleaded gasoline and diesel fuel and Total-branded lubricants. Rubis is the exclusive distributor of Total Lubricants.
The Thompson Boulevard, Faith Avenue, Wulff Road and Blue Hill Road sites will be among the first former Texaco stations to be unveiled under the Rubis brand.
‘We are happy to say that we are on schedule, and within days we will begin to re-brand our sites in the Bahamas, completing the entire Bahamas by the fourth quarter of 2013. Over the next several weeks, you will begin to see the transformation of our network and the rising of new, refreshed Rubis service stations throughout the Bahamas,” said Ferguson.
In January, the company also completed the acquisition of Blue Equity’s fuels distribution business in Jamaica. Blue Equity’s portfolio company, The Antilles Group Limited (TAG), supplies a network of 53 service stations previously operating under the Shell brand and has a broad customer base in the commercial and industrial sectors.
The company’s Caribbean head office is located in Barbados. Rubis employs more than 200 workers in 11 countries.
