RMIT, WWCC form joint venture to commercialize algae biofuel
Australia’s Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and the private firm World Wide Carbon Credits (WWCC) of Australia announced their multi-million dollar collaboration to develop algae biofuel on a commercial scale. The university’s move in entering into the joint venture is part of the green fuel project directed by Andy Ball, professor in environmental microbiology at RMIT.
The focus of the joint venture would be the development of processes using biotechnology techniques to make large-scale production and harvesting of algae for biofuels commercially viable. (October 9, 2012)
