Research looks at producing biofuel crops on poor-quality land
Lincoln University in New Zealand is leading a NZ$4 million (US$3.09 million) research project to produce biofuels on poor-quality land, which will not displace food crops or livestock. The university was given NZ$4.33 million (US$3.34 million) in government funding for the project. Professor Steve Wratten said the six-year project would target mainly non-food crops to leave top-quality land for food production. (July 15, 2008)<BR>
