Research confirms viability of converting hazardous wastes into solid lubricant

J.W. Shang and colleagues at Peking University have conducted research on hazardous organic residual wastes that are produced by the sodium hydrosulfite industry. The result of the study was published in the Journal of Hazardous Materials, and according to the authors of the report, the toxic wastes produced by the sodium hydrosulfite industry can be converted into a kind of solid lubricant. The researchers concluded that the conversion process is commercially viable and could help reduce environmental pollution. (February 10, 2012)
