Repsol to produce lubricants in China, Malaysia
Repsol, Spain’s largest oil company with operations in 30 countries, has signed an agreement with the Malaysian industrial group UMW to produce lubricants in the Asian market, including China and Malaysia. This move is thought to be part of a larger company strategy to enter other parts of the Asian lubricants market such as Singapore, Brunei, Myanmar and Papua New Guinea. The company’s lubricants arm, Repsol YPF Lubricantes y Especialidades S.A. (RYLESA), has set a goal to sell 20,000 tons of lubricants by 2015. In addition to the local production of lubricants, Repsol expects to sell synthetic lubricants for the automotive industry produced at its Puertollano refinery. Repsol is a fully integrated oil and gas company operating in Latin America, Middle East and North Africa. Repsol’s lubricant brands include Campsa, Petronor and Repsol. (July 6,2011)
