Renault-Nissan will continue with its multi-partner strategy in India, reports the Hindu Business Line. Renault-Nissan Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn said that Renault and Nissan will pursue independent partnerships in India and have different plans with different partners. Renault currently produces its Logan model under its joint venture (JV) with Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M). Renault is also developing an ultra-low-cost small car with Bajaj in India. Meanwhile, Nissan was recently reported as having plans to produce a small car for the Indian market with its light commercial vehicle (LCV) partner Ashok Leyland. Nissan currently plans to produce around 80,000 units at its new plant in Chennai, with the Micra (March) small car due to be launched in India in July. (March 17, 2010)
