PTT PCL will supply natural gas to Petronas Retail (Thailand)’s local fuel stations, under an agreement signed in August. Petronas Retail, a unit of Malaysian national oil company Petronas, plans to launch eight NGV re-fueling stations in Thailand knowledge_base year. The Thai government is promoting the use of alternative auto fuels such natural gas for vehicles (NGV) to lessen the country’s dependency on conventional fuels. PTT, Thailand’s sole supplier of natural gas, intends to keep the retail price of NGV at 8.50 baht (US$0.22) a kilogram until the end of 2007, said PTT President Prasert Bunsumpun. At present, only PTT and Bangchak Petroleum PCL’s fuel stations sell NGV. (August 9, 2006)
