PTT NGV usage soars

There are about 155,000 cars with natural gas engines in Thailand while natural gas vehicles (NGV) usage has soared to 3,900 tons a day, state-owned oil and gas conglomerate PTT reported. Punnachai Futrakul, PPT’s manager supervising the natural gas market for vehicles, said NGV engines were installed in about 100 vehicles each day and most of them were trucks and newly purchased cars. He said the company had not adjusted its NGV sales target for this year even though the cabinet approved its plans to install NGV engines in 30,000 taxis and lease 4,000 NGV public buses. The company plans to build two more “super stations” on Rama 9 and Kamphaeng Phet roads. (October 7, 2009)
