PTT expects better second-half results
Chief Financial Officer of PTT Group Tevin Vongvanich said the company is hoping to achieve better results in the second half of the year, with revenue projected to rise by 1 trillion baht (US$32.1 billion) from the first half. The projection takes into account potential revenues to be generated by its sixth gas separation plant, which could resume operations as early as the third quarter if the Central Administrative Court revokes the injunction on suspended projects in the Map Ta Phut industrial estate. PTT had 25 projects in Map Ta Phut which were halted when a local court issued a temporary injunction in September 2009, after environmental groups complained that the rules under Section 67 of the 2007 Constitution had not been followed. This specific provision requires projects with potential environmental and health impacts to conduct impact assessment studies, public hearings and consult independent agencies prior to construction.
