Proton to introduce CVT technology into new line of cars

Proton Holdings Bhd of Malaysia said it will add continuous variable transmission (CVT) technology into a new line of vehicles. “Soon, CVT will be mated to our CamPro engines as an option to our range of cars along with the conventional four-speed automatic gear transmission that is currently being used. This feature will not only provide more than just a smoother drive but it will also contribute towards fuel efficiency and savings to the user,” said Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, managing director. The addition of CVT is also expected to give drivers a smoother drive, while reducing the vehicle’s fuel consumption. (July 4,2011)
