Probe team confirms oil theft

A probe team of Nepal Oil Corp. (NOC) has confirmed that tankers ferrying petroleum products from Barauni, India, have been operating with faulty calibration, delivering as much as 250 liters less fuel to the corporation on every consignment of 20 kiloliters. Following the confirmation of the oil theft, NOC board members directed the management to stop imports from Barauni with immediate effect. According to a report from the Amlekhgunj depot, owing to the temperature difference, the depot was erring almost a two-fold rise in technical loss because of the management’s decision to import fuel from Barauni.
